Additional Tyre 123 Policy Benefits
  • Do I have to buy Gap Cover as well?No, you can buy a tyre insurance 123 policy completely on its own (stand alone).
  • Do you cover Low Profile Tyres?Yes, we cover low profile tyres providing they have been fitted in-line with the manufacturer's specification.
  • Do you cover me abroad?Yes, we cover you in mainland Europe for up to 60 days in any one trip.
  • Do you pay for roadside assistance?Yes, we pay up to £30.00 towards the cost of roadside assistance.
  • Why are you cheaper than my Dealership?The prices we quote will always be less expensive than your local dealership. This is nothing to do with your policy, what it will and will not cover or even how your claim is handled. Instead variations in rates of Insurance Premium Tax and supplier rates means that our policies will always be cheaper.
Cancellation and Cooling Off
  • Can I cancel my policy?Yes, you can cancel your policy at any time.
  • Do I get any refund?If you cancel within the first 14 days and providing you have not attempted to make a claim, you will be entitled to a full refund. However, after the 14 day cooling off period or if you have attempted to make a claim, you can still cancel your policy but are not eligible for a refund.
Definitions
  • What does the word Tyre mean in my documents? Tyre means any of the tyres fitted to the insured Vehicle as per the manufacturer's specification.
  • What is Mainland Europe?Mainland Europe means Republic of Ireland, all islands of the Mediterranean (Excluding Northern Cyprus) and the following countries of Mainland Europe: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (excluding Ceuta and Melilla), Sweden and Switzerland. Cover does not apply to territories beyond Mainland Europe.
  • What is meant by UK?The UK means the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
  • What is meant by Vehicle?Vehicle refers to the vehicle shown in the schedule.
  • What is the Claim Limit? Claim limit is the maximum single claim limit shown in the schedule. The maximum amount claimable under this insurance is limited to 5 tyres (2 for motorcycles) during the period of cover.
  • What is the Geographical Area?The geographical area is classed as England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Isle of man and Channel Islands.
  • What is the Issue Date?The issue date will be confirmed in the schedule, being the date on which you either concluded the contract of the insurance or the day on which you receive the contractual terms and conditions.
  • What is the Legal Limit?The Legal Limit of your tyre means the point at which the tyre fails to comply with the current Road Traffic Regulations.
  • What is the Period of Insurance?The period of insurance is the length of time that this insurance operates as shown in the schedule.
  • What is the Policy Start Date?The policy start date is the day on which this insurance starts as shown on the schedule.
  • What is the Schedule?This is the part of the insurance documentation that contains details of You, Your Vehicle, Tyre Type/ Size selected, the Period of Insurance and single Claim Limit.
  • What is this Insurance?This Insurance means the cover detailed in the policy document.
  • Who is it referring to when it says We/Us/Our?In the documents, We/Us/Our refers to Motorway Direct Plc.
  • Who is it referring to when it says You/Yourself?You/Your/Yourself mean to the insurance holder named in the Schedule.
General Conditions
  • Are there any General Conditions?Yes, please read your documents for full details.
  • Do you cover Driving School vehicles?No, sorry at the moment we can not cover vehicles used for any form of tuition.
  • Do you cover vehicles bought at auction?No, we can only cover vehicles purchased from a VAT registered garage or main dealership.
  • Do you cover vehicles bought privately?No, we can only cover vehicles purchased from a VAT registered garage or main dealership.
  • Is there a mileage limit?Yes, your vehicle must have less than 60,000 miles on the clock on the day that you buy your policy.
  • Is there an age limit for my vehicle?Yes, your vehicle must be under 5 years old on the day that you buy the policy.
  • When can I buy my policy?You must buy your policy within 30 days of taking delivery.
How can I pay?
  • Can I pay monthly?Yes, you can pay for any policy over £100 in 12 monthly payments.
  • Can I pay with PayPal?Yes, simply click the pay with PayPal button.
  • Do you accept Amercian Express?No, however if you click the pay with PayPal and then check out as a guest you can pay with American Express.
  • Do you accept Master Card?Yes, we accept Master card payments and there is no additional charge.
  • Do you accept Visa and Visa Debit cards?Yes, we accept Visa and Visa Debit cards and there is no additional charge.
  • Is there a charge for paying monthly?Yes, there is a 10% charge for paying monthly. For example, if your policy is £120.00 there would be a charge of £12.00. This would mean that your total policy price would be £132.00.

  • Why don't you trade as Aequitas?While the name and philosophy is core to our business not many members of the public can pronounce it let alone be able to spell it correctly. This could cause problems for customers while searching for us online.

  • How many drivers have a puncture?According to a recent Kwik-Fit survey, 1 in 3 motorists had a puncture last year. The RAC also stated that they attended 340,000 puncture related incidents in 2012.
  • How much will it cost to repair a puncture?According to a Which? survey, 60% of those who took part said it cost up to £50. to repair a puncture and 55% said it cost over £100.
  • Why are Run Flat Tyres more expensive?Run Flat tyres use the latest advancements to ensure that should you have a puncture the tyre will be able to support the weight of the vehicle. This means that they are a lot safer with no sudden blow outs and are a lot more convenient. Unfortunately this means they are a lot more expensive.

What will your policy cover?
  • How many claims can I make?For all vehicles excluding motorbikes, you can make a maximum of 5 claims in a three year period. For motorbikes, you can make a maximum of 2 claims within a three year period.
  • How much will you pay per tyre?We will pay up to £50.00 to have your tyre repaired. If your tyre is not repairable we will pay up to £300 per tyre for a replacement.
  • Is there any excess for me to pay?No, there is no excess.
  • Will my Policy cover a Hybrid vehicle?Yes your policy will cover Hybrid vehicles.
  • Will my policy cover accidental damage?Yes, your policy will cover accidental damage.
  • Will my policy cover malicious damage?Yes, however you must report the incident to the police and make a note of your crime reference number as you will be asked for this when you make a claim.
  • Will my policy cover punctures?Yes, your policy will pay up to £50.00 towards the cost of repairing your tyre.
  • Will my policy cover winter tyres?Yes, providing that they are fitted in accordance with the manufacturer.
What will your policy not cover?
  • Can I use my vehicle in competitions?No, your policy will not cover you if your vehicle is used in racing or competitions.
  • Do you cover consequential damage?No. If your tyre is damaged due to incorrect use, pressure, wheel alignment, tracking, steering or suspension faults then your policy will not cover you.
  • Does my tyre have to have a "E" mark on it?Yes, your policy will not cover any tyre which does not have an "E" mark on it.
  • Is there a waiting period to make a claim?Yes, your policy will not cover any claim made within the first 28 days after purchasing your policy.
  • Is there a weight limit?Yes, your policy will not cover you if your vehicle is over 3500Kg.
  • Will my policy cover cosmetic damage?No.
  • Will my policy cover taxi vehicles?No, your policy will not cover any vehicle used as a taxi.
