At Tyre Insurance 123 "we do not match prices instead we beat them!"
The simple answer is no.
At the moment, although we are working on it, tyre insurance is something that can not be extended. So this means that it is very important that you ensure that you buy enough cover from the outset as there will be no way of buying a form of extension when your tyre insurance expires.
This is simply because to qualify for tyre insurance you must of purchased your vehicle within the last 30 days from a vat registered garage or main dealership.
The rational behind this is that before you take delivery of your vehicle your garage as part of their duty of care will of ensured that your tyres are road worthy and in good condition.
This means that from a tyre insurance perspective there is a clearly defined point in time at which your tyres were above the legal limit and in good condition. Garages just like us are heavily regulated and when you buy a vehicle you are protected in the eyes of the law in many ways. This means that your garage is legally bound to ensure that your tyres are safe and of merchantable quality. The manufacturer also wants to ensure that when you buy a vehicle that it has been prepared to exacting standards.
Please remember that for your tyre insurance policy to be able to perform enough throughout the legal limit for tyres in the UK is currently 1.6mm of tyre thread your tyre must have a minimum of 2mm.
