Good news as French Tyre Giant confirmed as Moto GP's solo tyre supplier.
French Tyre manufacturing giant Michelin has been been confirmed as the exclusive provider to MotoGP from 2016. The moves comes as Bridgestone are replaced in the sport by their continental rivals. Michelin won the official tender, which was opened in May by Dorna, in line with the FIM.
Dorna confirmed the tender process allowed for any interested tyre manufacturers were able to access technical specifications from Javier Alonso, the managing director. Although three manufacturers initially expressing an interest in the process, Michelin were the only one to make a formal tender for the 22nd May deadline.
The announcement leaves Michelin and Dorna to process a full commercial agreement, as the manufacturer has already demonstrated its technical abilities to responds to the needs of a demanding grand prix schedule, according to MotoGP's organisers.
The move will provide Michelin with a high profile and exclusive appointment in the sport.
