Would you buy tyres from the internet?

Tuesday 15th July 2014 14:26:16

More UK consumers will buy tyres online says new report A report conducted by Europe’s leading internet tyre dealer says that motorists across the continent will become more inclined to buy tyres on the internet in 2014. The report by Delticom, surveyed more than 5,000 drivers in five selected European countries, including the United Kingdom, and found that the trend to save money with online tyre purchases in on the increase.

The new report says consumers are happy to buy tyres online Around 25% of the drivers surveyed said that they had bought new tyres over the internet already, and over 66% who have never purchased in that manner said they would consider doing it in the future. The report also suggested that there is room for further growth in the online tyre market.

The potential in the UK market was one of the most prominent. The number of UK drivers who bought tyres online increased from 14% in 2013, 50 an impressive 23% in 2014. Also increasing numbers of UK drivers said they would be happy to buy their tyres online in the future. UK consumers put high value on the availability of tyres, and also put great worth to the past experience with a particular tyre retailer, affordable prices and large choice of brands and models.

UK consumers unaware of legal tyre limits? Although safety is a crucial element in a vehicle tyre, it is also worth noting that UK consumers often never consider changing a tyre until it has reached the legal limit of 1.6mm, or when the tyre is damaged. Nearly 10% of UK consumers also did not know when it is time to change the tyre at all. With MoT tests not compulsory until a vehicle becomes three years old, it is a least of some concern that UK drivers could be driving around completely unaware that their tyres are not legal. It is worth popping in to your local tyre retailer for a check up if you are not sure.
